Egon Schiele

Egon Schiele (1890-1918) was an Austrian painter and draftsman known for his raw and erotic figurative works. He was a protégé of Gustav Klimt and emerged as a prominent artist of the Vienna Secession movement. Schiele's style was characterized by the use of elongated and distorted forms, bold lines, and an emphasis on the human body and sexuality. His portraits and self-portraits are particularly notable for their intense psychological insight. Schiele's career was cut short by his untimely death at the age of 28 during the Spanish flu epidemic. Despite his brief career, Schiele has had a significant influence on Expressionism and is considered one of the most important Austrian artists of the 20th century.
