Edwin Austin Abbey was an American painter and illustrator born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1852. Edwin's most well known work are paintings and drawings of Shakespeare subjects such as The Queen in Hamlet and Hamlet Play Scene. Abbey studied his art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He produced many drawings for magazines and also illustrated best-selling books like Christmas Stories by Charles Dickens.. Eventually Edwin moved to London England for a job but settled there after he fell in love with the town.
