Andreas Achenbach is one-half of the The "Alpha and Omega" of landscape painters. The nickname was what he and his brother Oswald earned themselves. Andreas was born in Kassel, Germany in 1815. He is a well known German seascape and landscape painter. Achenbach's success led to many honors. He was one of the founding art members of the association known as Malkasten. He also was an honorary member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine arts. Andrea's style ranged between romanticism and modern art. Some of his seascape pieces like "Norwegian Coast by Moonlight" are stunning with detail.
