“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” – Ansel Adams
Mr. Adams is widely renowned as one of the greatest landscape photographers. Born in 1902 in San Francisco, California Adams was an only child whose father shared with him the hobby of astronomy at an early age. Growing up Adams dabbled in lots of things, the stars, the piano and his studies. It wasn't until his first visit to Yosemite National Park in 1916 when he was gifted his first camera that he fell in love with the art of photography. Ansel was a quick study and by 1921 his first photographs were published and began selling. Adams traveled far and wide to capture his amazing shots. From Sierra Nevada to Taos, New Mexico. During his career he was the recipient of three Guggenheim fellowships. With one of these fellowships he was tasked to photograph every National Park. At that time there were 28 parks, Ansel managed to photograph 27 of them. These trips produced photographs of some of his most famous pieces featuring Old Faithful, Mount McKinley and Grand Teton.
