Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky a Russian painter is widely considered a master of marine art. In his lifetime he painted over 6,000 artworks. With a photographic memory Ivan never painted in nature but normally away from the sea. It was remarked that he only needed to see the scene he was going to paint for a few moments before it was captured in his memory.
Ivan in his 60 year career held an astounding 55 solo exhibitions in places like Rome, Naples, Berlin, New York, San Franciso, Chicago and more.
