Gentile da Fabriano was an Italian painter who worked heavily in an International Gothic style. Not much is known about the painter's life and many of his original works have been list. His remaining pieces include the world-famous Adoration of the Magi. This piece is not only considered a masterpiece for da Fabriano but is widely regarded as one of the single most influential pieces of International Gothic style.
International Gothic styles art pieces first emerged in France but quickly spread throughout Europe during the 14th and as late as the 16th century. Its presence in art and architecture only somewhat diminished with the advent of the Renaissance movement. Its sophisticated pieces were initially only seen amongst nobility classes, however, over time, continuations of the style merged with a variety of decorative elements including sculptures and tapestry.
